Best College Classes to Take to Become a Financial Advisor

When I graduated with my degree in Finance in 1998 there was a certain set of classes that I had to have...but I'm here to give you what I think is the most relevant.

Keep these things in mind as you navigate your journey to becoming a financial professional...

1. College is to teach you how to think/learn. Since information is so abundant nowadays you should be using college to ask questions and challenge previously held assumptions. Don't take the easy route by just learning what you need to pass the exam or class.
   
2. Master the basics. As a financial professional you have to have your basics. So principles of accounting, economics and finance are crucial.
   
3. Social sciences are huge. This career is becoming more about the softer side as consumers realize they can have their investment choices automated and their budgets crunched. Helping a person understand why those things need to be done and what happens if they're not is the important skill. And for that you need high EQ and to be a good listener.
